About WhatIsMyIP
WhatIsMyIP is a free, browser-based tool that helps you view information about your public internet connection. Open the page and it shows the address your connection is using, along with related network details, so you can see how your connection appears to the websites you visit.
What You Can Check
Depending on your connection and the information available, the site can display:
- Your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
- Your internet service provider (ISP)
- Network and ASN information
- An approximate IP-based location
- Additional IP and network details, in an expandable section
- VPN and proxy indicators, when you choose to run the check
How It Works
When you open the site, your browser contacts external IP and network information services to find the public IP address your connection is using and to look up related details such as the ISP and network. The page then shows what those services return.
IP geolocation is approximate. It is based on IP address data, which can be out of date or incomplete, and it usually points to a nearby city or region rather than your actual location. WhatIsMyIP does not know your exact physical location, and the map should not be read as a precise position.
Privacy
You do not need to create an account to check your IP address. Because the tool relies on third-party services, some technical information is processed to provide results. For details about how information is handled, please read the Privacy Policy.
Our Goal
The goal is to provide a simple, fast, and easy-to-understand way to inspect basic public IP and network information, whether you are troubleshooting a connection, checking what a VPN changes, or just curious how your connection looks from the outside.
